A busy summer transfer window is expected at Arsenal after they failed to win the Premier League this season, despite spending the majority of the campaign at the top of the league. So, we can expect an Arsenal midfield overhaul at least this summer.

Arsenal Midfield Targets

Mikel Arteta is hoping to revamp his side’s midfield and has publicly admitted Arsenal must “absolutely nail” their summer recruitment as the side prepare for a return of Champions League football.

West Ham United captain Declan Rice is high on the priorities of the Arsenal board as the Gunners look to snatch Rice with just one year left on his contract.

They also want to add more creativity in the final third and Chelsea star Mason Mount is said to be a target. However, the Gunners do face strong competition from both Liverpool and Manchester United who are also interested in the England international.

Arsenal are determined to sign the duo, and may require more cover with the departure of Granit Xhaka all but confirmed.

Arteta is also keen on signing Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, who has been one of the Cityzens’ best players this season. Arsenal recognise Gundogan as an ideal replacement for Xhaka, but the German is wanted by multiple sides including Barcelona.

However, Pep Guardiola is doing everything in his powers to get Gundogan to sign a new contract and as they chase a treble, he may be inclined to do so.
