The 2023 Grand National prize money this year will see a £1m purse spread out over the best finishers. But just how much does the Grand National winner get?
2023 Grand National Prize Money Goes Down to The Tenth-Placed Horse
The Grand National is the prize all horse racing owner, jockeys and trainers want to win and really the prestige of landing the best jumps race in the world is enough on its own.
However, the added bonus for connections of the 2023 Grand National winner is that here is also hefty prize pool out up by the sponsors Randox Health.
With a maximum of 40 Grand National runners the winning horse obviously has to beat 39 others to land the first prize. But the good news for the other horses is that the prize fund stretches back to the 10th placed horse, who still gets £5,000.
Twelve months ago, in 2022 there were just 15 horses to finish – with the other 25 falling, pulling up of being brought down. Meaning only 5 of the horses to complete walked away with nothing, but with only 25% of the field (top 10 of 40 runners) getting a payout, this means 75% of the runners go home with zilch.

How Much Will The 2023 Grand National Winner Get?
Last year, the Grand National winner – Noble Yeats – banked £500,000 for his owner Robert Waley-Cohen, but this year he could get even more.
Noble Yeats will be back to try and defend his National crown and join the likes of Tiger Roll and Red Rum as ‘back-to-back’ winners of the race. And the jackpot for his connections is the 2023 Grand National winner this year will half a million pounds.
Last year’s runner-up Any Second Now banked £200k for getting silver, while the third last year – Delta Work – got £100k.
So, there is a difference of £300,000 between finishing first in the Grand National and second – a lot at stake.
Any Second Now and Delta Work are both entered in the 2023 Grand National again.
