Winter Million Lingfield Tips For ITV Racing On Saturday: Including Winter Oaks
The ITV Racing team have certainly had their work cut out this week with scheduled LIVE meetings falling by the wayside due to the weather. Ascot’s Clarence House Chase card and the Peter Marsh Chase fixture at Haydock were meant to be headlining a big day of jumping action.
However, with frozen tracks both were forced to call off their big Saturday cards, with the Clarence House Chase expected to be re-routed to Cheltenham next weekend.
ITV had to hunt around for a super-sub horse racing and with their cameras already heading to Lingfield on Sunday, then their AW fixture on Saturday seemed the obvious pick.
The free-to-air channel will take in FOUR races live at Lingfield, which start at 2pm and will include the Winter Oaks Handicap at 3:10pm.

Lingfield Tips On Saturday 20th January 2024: Four LIVE Races On ITV
2:00 Lingfield (AW) Polytrack Bet £10 Get £40 At BetMGM Handicap Cl3 (4yo+ 0-95) 1m ITV
Top jockey Ryan Moore has a cracking 35% SR riding 4+ year-olds at Lingfield and gets the leg-up on Talis Evolvere here for the Hannon yard. This gelding has won two of his last three, but the worry would be that he’s yet to race a Lingfield and is also up another 2lbs here.
Fantastic Fox, Al Ruffa, King’s Code and the other Hannon runner Forca Timao are all respected, but the lightly-raced course and distance winner DRAGON ICON is the one that stands out. This Lope De Vega colt from the Roger Varian yard has won two of his three starts, including here at Lingfield last May. He’s since run with credit (5th) in the G2 German 2000 Guineas, which is the bet form on offer here.

2:35 Lingfield (AW) Polytrack Build Your Acca With BetUK Handicap Cl2 (4yo+ 0-105) 5f ITV
Diomed Spirit is a winning machine at the moment – having taken his last four – but is up another 3lbs here and also hiked in grade.
Bergerac might be able to solve the case, having hit form of late with wins at Newcastle and Southwell, but these came at a slightly lower level and is up another 5lbs here and has never won of a rating this high.
Bedford Flyer is a CD winner, but the Mick Appleby yard are a tad out-of-form at present and this would be the worry here. So, a chance is taken on the Scott Dixon runner – ONE NIGHT STAND (e/w), who does seem to save his best for the Surrey track (4 wins).
Yes, he’s up in grade here and running 4lbs out of the handicap, but still gets in with a light weight of just 8-4 and draw 4 looks ideal as he’s a horse that often likes to run up with the pace.

3:10 Lingfield (AW) Polytrack BetMGM Winter Oaks Fillies’ Handicap Cl2 (4yo+ 0-105) 1m2f ITV
Simon and Ed Crisford took this race last year and they’ve a big chance of doing so again – this time with OH SO GRAND.
This 4 year-old has won her last two at Newcastle and here at Lingfield, while a 4lb rise for the last of those wins doesn’t look harsh at all.
She’s only run four times on the AW but has won three of these now and jockey Jack Mitchell is 2-from-2 on the Postponed filly. Add in a decent 29% SR that the Crisford yard boast then everything points to another big run.
Of the rest, the Ryan Moore-ridden Twirling can do best, with Miss Bluebelle and Queen Regent, who could improve for the first-time cheekpieces, next best.

3:45 Lingfield (AW) Polytrack BetUK. It’s Where The UK Bets Handicap Cl5 (4yo+ 0-70) 2m ITV
Firstly, with a fine 23% SR with her 4+ year-olds at the track, then the Lydia Richards runner Smith might be worth a saver at a big price. Stamina would be the worry for Gordon Grey after fading over 1m4f and 1m6f the last twice, but that won’t be an issue for CD winner Anisoptera.
The only two winners in the field are Havanazam and Man Of Riddles but are also up 4lbs and 3lbs in the weights. Two Past Eight, Le Rouge Chinois and Two Past Eight could figure too, but a chance is taken on AFRICAN STAR, for trainer Sylvester Kirk.
This 4 year-old Galieo gelding is yet to race over this far but has shown up well over 1m6f and has also won at Lingfield in the last – albeit on the turf. The experienced Robert Haviln, who has ridden him the last twice, remain in the plate, and with just three runs on the AW is taken to find a bit more improvement over this new longer trip.
