Everton have reportedly leapfrogged Spurs and West Ham in the race to sign out-of-favour Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.
Everton could add another experienced England international following Conor Coady’s exit and the Toffee’s are now in the lead to sign the former Leicester defender.
The English defender has been linked with a move away from the Red Devils this summer and has reportedly caught the eye of a variety of Premier League – including Tottenham Hotspur.
Maguire’s future in Manchester has been hit with further doubt in recent weeks, after the England international was stripped of his role as captain. Erik ten Hag opted to give midfield maestro, and last season’s vice-captain, Bruno Fernandes the captain’s armband.
Premier League club, West Ham United, have also shown interest in the former English defender, with talks over a move for both Scott McTominay and Maguire reportedly progressing.
Sean Dyche is reportedly a huge fan of the United star and according to reports, a move to Goodison Park could form over the coming weeks.

Frank Lampard held the reigns in Merseyside for the opening weeks of the 2022-23 campaign, after keeping Everton in the Premier League during the season prior – however the Brit was relieved of his duties in January.
Winning just once in 11 matches, the former Chelsea manager was in a relegation battle and Sean Dyche was appointed to keep the club in England’s top-flight.
On the final day of the campaign, Dyche’s side narrowly defeated Bournemouth, securing their survival and giving them a huge boost this summer.
Maintaining Premier League status was key for the club’s deals in the summer window and could tempt Maguire with a move.
The 30-year-old has two-years remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford and is reportedly available for a loan move – with an option to buy at the end of the season.
