His dad, Dubawi also won this race in 2004 with jockey William Buick, who has three wins in this event, rides.

City Of Troy for the Aidan O’Brien yard is the obvious threat to the selection – a race the Ballydoyle camp have won three times in the past. He won on debut at the Curragh at the start of the month and has some fancy Group One entries to indicate he’s highly regarded at home.

Haatem, for the Hannon yard that have wins in 2001, 2003, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2019, also commands respect.

Awaal was third in the Royal Hunt Cup last time and can be expected to be bang there on what we’ve seen so far and course winner Streets Of Gold was only beaten 1 1/4 (3rd) in the Jersey Stakes last time and on that run back into a handicap could have big claims too.

CD winner Azure Blue looks the one to give the pick most to think about after a top win in the Duke Of York Clipper Stakes in May and has now won her last four, with the top-rated in the field Kinross expected to have come on for his recent 7th in the QEII Jubilee Stakes last time.
