Tuesday 20th June 2023 Frankie Dettori Royal Ascot Rides
• 2.30pm – Queen Anne Stakes (Group 1) 1m (straight) ITV: INSPIRAL @ 2/1 with Paddy Power
Winner of the Coronation Stakes at this meeting last year and heads here having won 6 of her 8 career starts. Is back from a 248-day break, but a horse that’s gone well fresh in the past and Frankie has won the Queen Anne Stakes a massive 7 times in the past.
• 3.05pm – Coventry Stakes (Group 2) 6f ITV: GIVEMETHEBEATBOYS @ 5/1 with Paddy Power
Rare ride for Irish trainer Jessie Harrington here for Frankie Dettori. Has won both career starts – coming at Navan and the Curragh last time, when taking the Group Three Marble Hill Stakes. Has shown plenty of pace in his races and Frankie has landed the Coventry Stakes twice since 2014.
• 3.40pm – King’s Stand Stakes (Group 1) 5f ITV: MANACCAN @ 9/2 with Paddy Power
Nice draw in 9 here for this John Ryan runner and another big chance for Frankie to land a Royal Ascot Group One. This 4 year-old was last seen running a close third in the G3 Palace House Stakes at Newmarket and after 197 days off can be expected to have blown away the cobwebs there. Frankie’s sole success in this race came way back in 1994 with Lochsong

• 4.20pm – St James’s Palace Stakes (Group 1) Old mile (round) ITV: CHALDEAN @ 6/4 with Paddy Power
Chaldean gave Frankie a big day last month when winning the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and will meet the Irish Guineas winner in what looks a cracking match-up here. This Andrew Balding runner has won 5 of his 7 starts and it probably would have been more if he’d not ducked and unseated Frankie in the Greenham Stakes in April. Frankie has won the St James’s Palace Stakes four times over the years, including 3 times since 2016.
• 5.35pm – Wolferton Stakes (Listed) 1m 2f ITV: SAGA @ 9/2 with Paddy Power
A royal runner for Frankie here as he’ll be looking to give the King his first Royal Ascot winner. Trained by John Gosden, who has won this race 4 times in the last 12 and this horse has history at this meeting after running a close second in the Britannia Stakes last season. Will be spot-on for this too after a close second at Newmarket in early May. Frankie is yet to win this Royal Ascot race, since it was first run in 2002.
• 6.10pm – Copper Horse Stakes (Handicap) 1m 6f ITV4: ABSURDE @ 13/2 with Paddy Power
Willie Mullins has a strong hand here with the 2022 Triumph Hurdle winner Vauban and Absurde, with the last-named having the services of Frankie Dettori. This 5 year-old bolted up on his hurdles debut for the yard at Kilnarney last month after coming over from France to the Mullins yard. It’s hard to translate that form to the flat but has the same mark at his stablemate Vauban and certainly looked to have plenty of ability when winning the last day over the sticks.
Note: Odds are subject to change, correct as 20th June 9:17am
