In the latest Liverpool transfer news, the Merseyside club are reportedly interested in making a move for Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips this summer.

Liverpool Transfer News

According to the Daily Star, Merseyside giants Liverpool are preparing to make a move for out-of-favour Manchester City midfielder Kalving Phillips.

After an inconsistent season, Jurgen Klopp is desperate to sign some midfield reinforcements in the summer.

The Reds had held a keen interest in Jude Bellingham over several transfer windows, but have now been priced out of a move for the Borussia Dortmund midfielder.

Because of this, it’s said that Klopp has identified Phillips as his main target for this summer.

Phillips is believed to be open to a move to Anfield, in what Liverpool hope to be a £35m deal.

Klopp isn’t the only one interested in the Yorkshireman however, with Unai Emery reportedly hoping to sign Phillips in a club record deal for Aston Villa, as well as West Ham holding an interest.

City signed Phillips from Leeds last summer in a deal worth upwards of £50m.

It hasn’t turned out to be a good move for Phillips though, with the 27-year-old making just 16 appearances under Pep Guardiola in all competitions this term.

Phillips did feature for England at the 2022 World Cup, but found himself frozen out of the squad upon his return to Manchester.

Guardiola publicly slammed the midfielder, claiming that he was out of shape and wasn’t at the required fitness levels.

Despite making 16 appearances throughout the campaign, he has failed to start a single Premier League match for the Citizens.

Could a move to Liverpool suit all parties and revive the 26-time England international’s career?
