Rachael Blackmore With Three Rides on Aintree Day 2

After a decent showing at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival, Rachael Blackmore is here for the Grand National Festival at Aintree. Last year, Blackmore didn’t have any winners judging by the 2022 Grand National results. However, she is still widely regarded as one of the world’s best jockeys and will be hopeful of a few winners this week at Aintree.

On Day 1, Rachael Blackmore had three rides which resulted in one winner with Dancing On My Own in the Red Rum Handicap Chase. On Friday, she again takes the reigns on three rides for trainer Henry De Bromhead on Day 2 at Aintree.

These rides include Inthepocket, who came fourth in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle last month at Cheltenham. on Friday he features in the Top Novices’ Hurdle at 2.55pm and is current the third favourite to win the race behind Found A Fifty and Luccia.

Blackmore, who also won the 2021 Grand National with Minella Times, also has two more rides on day two along with Inthepocket.

She has Martello Sky for trainer Henry De Bromhead in the William Hill Handicap Hurdle (2.55pm) and Upping The Anti in the Topham Handicap Chase (4.05pm).

Blackmore is priced at 8/1 with leading bookmaker 10Bet to be the 2023 Grand National Festival top jockey.

What Horses Is Rachael Blackmore Riding On Day 2 Of The 2023 Grand National Festival?

Friday 14th April 2023

MARTELLO SKY (William Hill Handicap Hurdle – 2.20pm): @ 16/1 with 10Bet

Rachael Blackmore’s first ride on Day 2 of the Grand National Festival comes in the form of Martello Sky in the William Hill Handicap Hurdle at 2.20pm. Martello Sky is priced as a big 16/1 outsider with the best horse racing betting sites and looks to be up against it here in this Grade 3 handicap over 2m 4f.

Despite being well down in the betting, this 7-year-old mare has finished inside the top three on each of her last four starts. This is her debut around the hallowed Aintree turf but she comes here in reasonable form and has some each ways claims for sure.

INTHEPOCKET (Top Novices’ Hurdle – 2.55pm): @ 4/1 with 10Bet

Blackmore’s second ride is probably her best chance of winner on Day 2 as she takes the reigns on Inthepocket for Henry De Bromhead in the Top Novices’ Hurdle. He is the 4/1 third favourite for that race in terms of the best Grand National odds and looks to have a great chance here in this Grade 1 hurdle over the 2m 1/2f trip.

The 6-year-old gelding was last seen at Cheltenham when finishing fourth in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle. He kept on well and gave a decent run and certainly has a chance of his third hurdling triumph off the same mark as last month at the Festival.

UPPING THE ANTI (Topham Handicap Chase – 4.05pm): @ 14/1 with 10Bet

Blackmore’s third and final ride on Day 2 at Aintree sees her saddle Upping The Anti in the Topham Handicap Chase. This race looks wide open with a case easily made for five or six runners. At 14/1 odds with the best Grand National betting sites, Upping The Anti certainly has leading each-way claims here in this 2m 5f handicap over fences.

The 7-year-old gelding boasts two chase victories and two place finishes in the last four starts over fences he has completed. Last time out he finished second at Thurles as a 14/1 outsider and has shown that he is a capable horse who can go a good gallop. Tough ask to win this one but again, each-way claims for Blackmore on her third and final ride on Day 2 of the 2023 Grand National Festival.
