FAIRYHOUSE 3.55
MARS HARPER has a poor record on left-handed tracks, failing to score from 13 starts when racing in that direction. Gordon Elliott’s seven-year-old has won three of his 12 starts on right-handed tracks for a profit of £16.25 to a £1 level stake at SP and it’s easy to forgive his defeat at the Cheltenham festival last time when 50-1 for the Stable Plate. Right-handed Fairyhouse should suit and I expect him to run a big race under top weight. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

HAYDOCK 4.25
BOBALOT found the ground too slow when a 46-length fifth at Lingfield in mid-November and didn’t enjoy the right-handed track and slow ground at Taunton the following month. He’s been rested since to wait for better going and is worth an interest today, despite the clerk of the course having watered the officially good to soft going. Since his racecourse debut, Bobalot’s record left-handed reads 23415 (1-5), with the sole win coming on his seasonal debut, suggesting the 99-day break since Taunton won’t be an issue. Back him each-way with Spreadex of buy in the 50-25-10 market.
Recommendation: Back Bobalot in Haydock 4.25
FAIYRHOUSE 5.05
It helped to challenge wide on the hurdles course at Down Royal on March 17th and MONBEG PARK, although starting as the 16-5 favourite, deserved extra credit for his runner-up effort in the 2m4f handicap hurdle, as he took the inside route in the closing stages. He was worn down by Ottoman Style who travelled wide but was only a length and a quarter down at the line and this consistent type has form figures below Graded level, including his point-to-point form, of 1213212 (3-7). Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or back him each-way.
