York Day Four ITV Racing Tips 1-2-3 Selections On Saturday

1:50pm Sky Bet & Symphony Group Strensall Stakes Group 3 1m1f ITV

SportsLens 1-2-3 York Day Four ITV Racing Tips: NOSTRUM is taken to bounce back and return to winning ways after being unsuited by slow ground when odds-on favourite at Glorious Goodwood last time out.

Sir Michael Stoute’s classy three-year-old will appreciate the quicker ground and can build on his impressive Newmarket reappearance. The Kingman colt returned from a 278-day break when scoring at HQ back in July, and with Ryan Moore in the saddle once again, he makes a lot of appeal. Being a younger horse, Nostrum also receives weight from most of the field, which is another positive.

Jimi Hendrix has put in a couple of strong performances in at Ascot recently and is on the shortlist. Meanwhile Chichester is a course winner at a big price, who can’t be entirely ruled out.

  • NOSTRUM
  • JIMI HENDRIX
  • CHICHESTER

2:25pm Sky Bet Melrose Stakes Heritage Handicap 1m6f ITV

SportsLens 1-2-3 York Day Four ITV Racing Tips: MIDDLE EARTH is our next selection on Saturday. John and Thady Gosden’s colt appeared to enjoy a step up in trip last time when landing at Newmarket and can continue to improve up another couple of furlongs again here.

The Roaring Lion colt has the potential to be a top class stayer one day and can run a big race for top yard on handicap debut. Oisin Murphy returns to the saddle for the first time since Middle Earth debuted at Sandown in June, and is a positive booking for the three-year-old. Not ran a bad race in career so far, so can only get better from here.

Lordship has won his last three and is on the shortlist. Alhambra Palace is also seeking a hat-trick and can’t be ignored, but is in deeper water here.

  • MIDDLE EARTH
  • LORDSHIP
  • ALHAMBRA PALACE

3:00pm Sky Bet City of York Stakes Group 2 7f ITV

SportsLens 1-2-3 York Day Four ITV Racing Tips: ISAAC SHELBY is our pick in the York Stakes to reverse the form with Kinross, who beat him by a neck last time out at Glorious Goodwood.

The Wathnan Racing colt will surely put in another big performance on faster ground, and can’t be ignored at an attractive price.

Kinross does better work on the slower ground, and it suited perfectly at Goodwood, but it will likely be another great battle between the two. Isaac Shelby receives weight from his older challengers, and can go well under Sean Levey again.

It is one of the hottest races of the week and a lot of prize money is on offer. Kinross is one of the most feared after his Goodwood win, meanwhile Al Suhail is considered in this step back up in trip.

  • ISAAC SHELBY
  • KINROSS
  • AL SUHAIL

3:35pm Sky Bet Ebor Heritage Handicap 1m6f ITV

SportsLens 1-2-3 York Day Four ITV Racing Tips: SWEET WILLIAM has been working towards this race for the past few months with some impressive victories along the way, and is our pick in one of the feature races of the day.

The progressive son of Sea The Stars is seeking the four-timer under Rob Havlin after victories this season at Doncaster, Newbury and Goodwood. He has to defy a 4lb penalty, but has solid claims with the dream of the Melbourne Cup over in Australia beckoning. The winner of this rich handicap will get automatic entry into “the race that stops the nation”.

Frankie Dettori takes the ride on Willie Mullins’ leading chance Absurde so is firmly in calculations. Meanwhile, Real Dream won well at Ascot last time out and will be in the mix.

  • SWEET WILLIAM
  • ABSURDE
  • REAL DREAM

4:10pm Sky Bet Constantine Stakes Heritage Handicap 6f ITV

SportsLens 1-2-3 York Day Four ITV Racing Tips: ABERAMA GOLD completes our ITV racing tips and comes into the race with some solid form this season.

Since joining David O’Meara’s yard he has won two of three races, and is on the hunt for a hat-trick this time out. He also scored earlier on in the season when still with Kieth Dalgleish and 6f is clearly his bread and butter. Aberama Gold has been bumped up 5lb, but in his current form could prove hard to beat.

Richard Hannon also has a decent record in this and runs Mums Tipple who has course and distance form. Mr Wagyu got back on track last time out at Goodwood with a respectable fourth, and can build on that with another placed effort here.
