Legendary horse racing trainer, Willie Mullins, is back for this year’s Cheltenham aiming to train the most winners for a fifth consecutive year at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival. Willie Mullins With 24 Runners on Cheltenham Day 2
Willie Mullins has been the top trainer a record nine Cheltenham Festivals. He won his first ‘Top Trainer’ crown back in 2011 and has since won that title another eight times. Mullins has been the top trainer at the Cheltenham Festival for the past four years in a row and will aim to make that a fifth this time around. The Irish racing trainer will be hoping to replicate this form with a stellar showing at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival.
The 66-year-old has 88 winners to his name in the Cheltenham Festival over the years prior to this year. This includes two Gold Cups, four Champions Hurdles, seven Supreme Novices’ Hurdles and five Ballymore Novices’ Hurdles to name but a few.
On Day 2, Willie Mullins has 24 intended runners on Wednesday 15th March. These runners include Energumene, who is the joint favourite for the Queen Mother Champion Chase, plus likely favourites Impaire Et Passe (1:30) and Sir Gerhard (2:10).

The 2019 & 2020 back-to-back Gold Cup winning-trainer with Al Boum Photo also has 23 more runners on day one along with Energumene on Day 2.
The Irish trainer believes hie has a few excellent chances to win some races on Day 2 such as Impaire Et Passe in the Ballymore and Sir Gerhard in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase. However, he certainly has a few other big chances on Day 2 at Cheltenham this year too.
Mullins is priced at 1/8 as the overriding betting favourite to be the 2023 Cheltenham Festival Top Trainer.
