Liverpool v Manchester City has become one of the most anticipated games in the Premier League. The two are poised for an intense showdown on Sunday but the kick-off time is throwing fans off.

What time is the Liverpool v Manchester City game?

Once again, the two are going head-to-head for the title which gives the match that extra bit of importance. With just over two months of the season left, three points here would mean everything to both clubs.

The game will be broadcasted on Sky Sports during Super Sunday. Usually, the last game of the day is played at 4:30pm but that isn’t this case this time.

This kick-off time has been issued by Merseyside police. They’ve been unhappy with crowd trouble in this fixture in previous encounters and they believe pushing the game back to an earlier kick-off time will help combat the problems.

Some of those problems include damage to team buses, missiles thrown and cases of tragedy chanting.

In the reverse fixture at the Etihad, the game was played at 12:30pm. This would be normal if TNT Sports had picked to broadcast that game but it was chosen by Sky Sports. It was originally meant to be a 5:30pm Saturday evening game but the Manchester police moved it up to 12:30pm for a similar reason.

Liverpool v Manchester City isn’t the only fixture on Sunday that has a bizarre kick-off time.

What other match has a weird kick-off time?

Because of Liverpool v Manchester City getting pushed back, Sky Sports have pushed back the kick-off time of their first feature game on Super Sunday.

Aston Villa v Tottenham will now have a kick-off time of 1pm, instead of the traditional 2pm. Coverage for Super Sunday starts at 12pm on Sky Sports Premier League.

Like Liverpool v Manchester City, Aston Villa v Tottenham carries a significant importance. Aston Villa are five points ahead of Tottenham in 4th place. Tottenham – with a game-in-hand – will need to win at Villa Park to be in with a chance of leapfrogging Villa into fourth.

With the new Champions League format, 5th place may actually become a Champions League spot. However, this is earned on merit and both clubs will be hoping Arsenal and Manchester City go far in the tournament in order to make 5th place an active Champions League spot.
