David Moyes and West Ham took another step towards retaining their Premier League status for next season this afternoon after comfortably defeating Bournemouth 4-0 at the Vitality.

Bournemouth and West Ham came into this one off the back impressive victories, with the Cherries defeating Tottenham in their last outing and the Hammers battering Gent in the Europa Conference League in their last match.

Just two points separated the pair prior to the tie, with Bournemouth in 14th and West Ham in 15th.

But it was the team lower in the table that came out of the blocks flying as they stormed to a 2-0 lead in just 12 minutes.

Michail Antonio grabbed the opener after just five minutes, before Lucas Paqueta netted the second in the 12th minute.

The result looked to only be going one way, and it was cemented even further just before the half-time break.

Club captain Declan Rice got in on the act in the 43rd minute, turning home a third for the Hammers from a Tomas Soucek pass.

David Moyes’ side took it fairly easy in the second-half in comparison to the first-half’s dominance.

Pablo Fornals added the fourth on 72 minutes, before Maxwel Cornet netted a fifth, but for his effort to be discounted thanks to a VAR intervention.

With Premier League survival looking likely for West Ham now, they still have seven matches to go in the English top flight.

As well as a Europa Conference League semi-final, Moyes’ men still need to face Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Manchester City, Manchester United, Brentford, Leeds and Leicester in the league before the end of the campaign.
