Tottenham are biding their time over a move for Conor Gallagher even though they are genuinely interested in his situation.
Sources close to Spurs have told SportsLens that signing a new midfielder is not the priority right now but that attention is going to turn towards the midfield later in the month – and when it does Gallagher’s situation will be explored further if he has not signed a new Chelsea contract.

No Commitment Made To Chelsea By Gallagher

Figures around the North London club are surprised Chelsea’s owners seem willing to part with the £50million-rated midfielder, who has been pivotal to them so far this season, and there is a feeling he would be a perfect fit for Spurs as they evolve under Ange Postecoglou.

The stance of Gallagher and Mauricio Pochettino remains that they want an extension to his time at Stamford Bridge – and we can confirm talks have happened around that. But so far no commitment has been made by the Blues.

The situation will become more clear soon but Tottenham are not making a formal move at this stage as they focus on their intent around solidifying their defensive options.

Tottenham are happy with personal terms that are expected on a deal to sign Radu Dragusin from Genoa and are intensifying their interest in signing him this week.

Spurs Confident Of Dragusin Signing

Spurs are turning to the Romanian at a time when they have struggled to open up negotiations with Nice around a move for Jean-Clair Todibo, who according to the latest Tottenham January transfer odds, was previously favoured to be their chief target.

They always feared the French club might play hardball over a deal and it is proving to be the case. Tottenham do not want to wait in this window as there is an aim to have new recruits on board as soon as possible and in an ideal world they could make three signings.

Upgrading the back line is the prime concern followed by adding to the attack – and is is after that they might move for a midfielder like Gallagher, if the situation opens up accordingly.

Dragusin is the immediate focus though and Spurs have hope of working towards a deal that could be announced by next week.

Spurs hope a deal will be agreed for below £25million and negotiations around the terms of that are progressing – though Spurs do have options being worked on in the background in case it falls through.

Genoa have been aware of Tottenham’s growing interest over the past fortnight and are trying to hold out for a bigger fee.
