According to a report, north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham will rival eachother in the race to sign Crystal Palace ace Marc Guehi this summer.

The report comes from the Evening Standard, who claim that the clubs are looking to upgrade their defensive options.

Guehi has enjoyed an impressive second season with the Eagles, making 36 appearances in all competitions.

A product of the Cobham academy, the defender parted ways with Chelsea in the summer of 2021 and has become a top Premier League defender in the time since.

His rise in the English top flight has even seen him become an England international, making three appearances under Gareth Southgate thus far.

Spurs have reportedly been long-term admirers of Guehi.

Their interest in the defender comes during a time of uncertainty for the future of their current defenders.

Clement Lenglet is set to return to Barcelona following the culmination of his loan deal, whilst Davinson Sanchez is expected to depart after a torrid campaign.

Arsenal’s interest is said to be due to the club having a lack of depth in the centre-back position.

This has been highlighted in recent weeks where William Saliba has been unavailable through injury – contributing to the Gunners’ dip in form.

Rob Holding has come in for the Frenchman in recent weeks, but has shipped 11 goals in just four matches prior to the victory over Chelsea.

Jakub Kiwior featured in defence against the Blues, but has seen his gametime limited since making the move from Spezia in January.
