Ever since it’s inauguration in 1992, the Premier League has proven to be one of the most exciting divisions in world football. From Manchester United’s early dominance to Manchester City’s recent stronghold on the title, there have been a whole host of ups and downs over the years and Premier League fans are at the forefront of the action.
With Premier League fans in mind and after the recent emergence of ChatGPT and AI image generators it got us thinking here at SportsLens, what does AI think a stereotypical Premier League fan from each club in the 2023/24 campaign looks like? We used Sidykh to find out and the results are somewhat interesting:
Arsenal
The stubble, the modern-day haircut and tattoos is the first image Sidykh generated for a stereotypical Arsenal fan. We’re not sure if he’s looking on in despair or seeing how long is left on the clock so he can go and add another tattoo. Some of the fans behind him appear to be celebrating but he clearly doesn’t want to share in their joy.
Aston Villa
Now this guy looks cool, almost like a character from GTA. The hair, the beard and glasses are just beautiful. Much like Aston Villa‘s football this season. In reality, we’re not sure how many of their supporters attend games sporting this look but it could certainly catch on.
Bournemouth
The sun is shining down on this passionate Bournemouth fan as he appears to take great pride in supporting his team. Aged in his late twenties or early thirties, this Cherries fan clearly has no shame in showing his love for his club after their recent successful stints in the Premier League.
Brentford
The scarf and hat – in Brentford colours of course – highlights that this fan has likely followed the Bees through thick and thin. He probably leads the singing in the stands and will not miss a single home game. Ever. A real lover of his club and after their recent success in the Premier League, you can’t blame him.
Brighton
Absolutely no idea why this Brighton fan thought it was okay to bring his dog along to a match but hey, maybe he has a friend who happens to live near the ground who can sit for him. Anyhow, the neatly groomed beard and windswept hair is something you’d most likely be accustomed to if you live along the south coast. The cheeky half-smile just goes to show how nice and friendly AI believes fans of the Seagulls are.
Burnley
They may not have had a lot to celebrate this season on the pitch but this Burnley fan appears to be singing and shouting to his heart’s content. The Turf Moor faithful have often been a passionate bunch and it’s clear to see from this fan that AI agrees. The scarf and shirt combo compliments him brilliantly.
Chelsea
Blue certainly is the colour for this diehard Chelsea fan who has opted to have the home strip painted on him. Sort of. The west Londoners have endured a relatively poor start to the 2023/24 Premier League season but even that doesn’t appear to slow this fan’s passion for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. Maybe he’d be better employed to rouse the squad at Cobham in hope of an upturn in fortunes on the pitch.
Crystal Palace
Really not sure how many actual Eagles follow Crystal Palace but Sidykh has produced a cracker here. The AI image generator completely bypassed the human element and provided this result and to give them their dues, they did display the bird of prey in full Palace colours. Wonder what real fans of the south Londoners would make of this.
Everton
This fan still appears in shock at Alejandro Garnacho’s superb overhead-kick – either that or Everton’s recent 10-point deduction for breaching profit and sustainability rules. The Toffees are back in the relegation mire after a torrid couple of weeks and this supporter can’t seem to comprehend everything that’s going on in the blue half of Merseyside at the moment.
Fulham
Can’t recall too many times when fans of Fulham would attend Craven Cottage or away games dressed in such ‘fine’ attire. London’s oldest club finally look like they are going to resettle in the Premier League after spending five seasons moving up and down between the top two divisions in England. We rate this supporters desire but it is a very unique look.
Liverpool
After an indifferent campaign in 2022/23 whereby Liverpool failed to qualify for the Champions League, the Reds have started this season very strongly and are very much in the race for the title. Like a lot of the AI images generated, this fan appears very passionate about his side and he could be celebrating a lot more if Jurgen Klopp’s side pick up some more silverware at the end of the season.
Luton
The first AI image generated of a fan looking rather upset goes to Premier League newbies Luton Town. The Hatters have actually more than held their own so far this season so in reality, there’s not much to look depleted about. Granted, an immediate return to the Championship will still be tipped by many but the journey the Bedfordshire-based side have been on really does warrant a smile.
Manchester City
Pep Guardiola, is that you? Manchester City‘s result is perhaps the best yet in terms of generating an image that looks like a real person, which happens to resemble somewhat the Cityzens treble-winning manager. The Spaniard will know how cold it can get in the north-east in the winter months so it’s very kind of Sidykh to wrap him up in suitable clothing. Not sure about the hat, though.
Manchester United
This fan was almost certainly a season ticket holder during the glory days under Sir Alex Ferguson, but more recently, the Manchester United supporter limits himself to a couple of drinks whilst watching the game on TV. The Red Devils haven’t had a great deal to celebrate since Fergie’s retirement in 2013 and maybe Sidykh is subtly hinting that fans are better off in the pub than at Old Trafford.
Newcastle
Fans of Newcastle are often considered some of the most passionate and loyal across Europe, not just in the Premier League and AI has produced a pretty spot-on image here. The curly black-and-white wig is perhaps a bit questionable but the Geordies won’t care. Much. Nonetheless, this fan looks like he is getting right behind his side by singing and encouraging the players on the pitch.
Nottingham Forest
This guy was likely present for Nottingham Forest’s two European Cup successes in 1979 and 1980, according to AI, but the real thing of beauty here is the plaited beard. It’s almost viking-esque and you can probably envisage this fan telling some untold stories about Forest legend Brian Clough. A pretty valiant effort although it’s probably a long-shot from your stereotypical reds fan and also, 10/10 for the moustache.
Sheffield Utd
A stark contrast to the Forest result, AI has produced this image for current Premier League strugglers Sheffield Utd. The club shirt over a jumper has been seen for years up and down the country and the no nonsense shaved head with minimal beard stubble has given this Blades fan a serious football fanatic look. Again, the celebrations and passion displayed are a common trait seen on Sidykh so far. A very good effort.
Tottenham
Perhaps the scariest looking result AI has generated and it goes to this Tottenham fan. The north Londoners had a brilliant start under new boss Ange Postecoglou but their last three results have been very frightening. The face paint and dark eyes are something more reminiscent of a Halloween look, not a stereotypical Premier League fan. Once again, great passion demonstrated.
West Ham
This is a pretty standard and stereotypical look but AI could have made this West Ham fan look a bit more happy. The Hammers enjoyed their first ever major European title in 2023 and despite losing star player Declan Rice, they have made a decent start to the 2023/24 Premier League season. We like the hoody and coat combo in club colours though, it seems to compliment this supporter very well.
Wolves
Last but not least it’s Wolves AI result and it’s probably the best one yet. Sidykh proposes that a stereotypical Wanderers fan is an actual wolf who poses in a shirt and tie with a coat on that resembles the team’s colours. No idea what the leather gloves are about but the fact he is just chilling on an arm chair, perhaps waiting to tell a story, signs this image off brilliantly.
