The Real Whacker Paddy Power Gold Cup Odds
This Saturday’s Paddy Power Gold Cup has many decent horses, but none are rated as high as THE REAL WHACKER, with a current mark of 162.
As a result of his lofty rating, this Patrick Neville-trained 7 year-old will have to shoulder topweight of 12st if he’s to win again at Cheltenham – a feat no horse has done in the race since 1965.
Dunkirk, won the prize with a monster 12st 7lbs on his back that year with the closest since being Taquin du Seuil, who won with 11st 11lb in 2016.
However, despite his big burden this likeable chaser will still have many backers after showing plenty of guts to win the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase (watch below) at the Festival in March.
That win kept The Real Whacker’s unbeaten record over fences (3-from-3) intact and the form has since been heavily boosted with the runner-up Gerri Colombe winning the Mildmay Novices’ Chase at the Aintree Grand National meeting and also last weekend’s Ladbrokes Champion Chase at Down Royal.
Gerri Colombe is now also as short as 4/1 for the Cheltenham Gold Cup at the Festival in March.
