Bypassed Cheltenham so well come here fresher than most. The form of his second to El Fabiolo was franked with that horse winning the Arkle Chase last time and having run well off a break in the past the 2 month layoff is actually a plus.

An excellent third to Lossiemouth in the Triumph Hurdle last time at the Cheltenham Festival, which is the best form on show here.

• 2.55pm The Aintree Bowl Steeple Chase (Class 1) Grade 1 3m 1f ITV: SHISHKIN (NB) @ 2/1

Didn’t jump that well the last day at Cheltenham, but still ran on to be placed. Longer trip again here looks a plus and can get back to winning ways.

Racing superstar of the moment and would be a huge shock if this Nicky Henderson runner isn’t winning this with ease.

Has a fine record in this race – winning it in last year and been placed in the past too. Another big run looks on the cards.

Consistent chaser that was last seen running a close second in a decent handicap chase at Doncaster. Expected to be a leading player here.
