- 1.45pm The Manifesto Novices’ Steeple Chase (Class 1) Grade 1 2m 4f: SAINT ROI @ 7/2
Small, but select field in the opener and the longer trip can bring out more in the Willie Mullins runner Saint Roi. Got outpaced in the Arkle the last day at Cheltenham, but this also looks a slightly easier race here so expected to be bang-there!
- 2.20pm The Jewson Anniversary 4-y-o Juvenile Hurdle (Class 1) Grade 1 2m 1f ITV: ZENTA @ 5/4
Looks the one to beat for top owner JP McManus. Has won two of her 3 runs over hurdles and wasn’t disgraced when third to Lossiemouth in the Triumph Hurdle last time out – beaten just 2 1/2 lengths.
- 2.55pm The Aintree Bowl Steeple Chase (Class 1) Grade 1 3m 1f ITV: AHOY SENOR @ 11/4
Was still running well when falling in the Gold Cup last time out – unlikely he would have won, but still ran a top race till that point. Clearly none the worse for that tumble to be running here and loves the Aintree track – winning the Mildmay Novices’ Chase here last year.
- 3.30pm The William Hill Aintree Hurdle (Class 1) Grade 1 2m 4f ITV: CONSTITUTION HILL (to win by 12 lengths or more)
It will be one of the shocks of the racing season if Constitution Hill loses his unbeaten record here. One of the superstars of the game at the moment and was super-impressive in winning the Champion Hurdle the last day at the Cheltenham Festival. Too short a price to back on his own, so shop around for markets to see how far he’ll win by!

Fair handicap chaser in his time but has been in the Hunters Chase arena in recent months. Won well at Wetherby in February despite running below-par at Taunton last time has been freshened up with almost 2 months off.

Won this race 12 months ago and is back for more. Trained by Evan Williams, who likes to target this meeting and returns this year on only a 2lb higher mark than last year.

This Paul Nicholls-trained 5 year-old impressed when winning at Newbury the last day – winning by 11 lengths – and looks another potential superstar in the making for the Ditcheat camp.
