Royal Ascot Tips On Saturday: Horse Racing 1-2-3 Best Bets On Sat 24th June 2023
2.30pm – Chesham Stakes (Listed) 7f
Trainer Aidan O’Brien has won 4 of the last 7 runnings of the Chesham Stakes and he can add to that impressive record with Pearls And Rubies. This No Nay Never filly only got home by a neck on debut at Navan, but she fluffed the start and that race was plenty sharper enough for her over 5f.
Pearls And Rubies ran on well to still get the win. That also suggests this step up to 7f is just what she needs, and her breeding backs that up.
Richard Hannon runner La Guardia won at the second time of asking at Goodwood in decent fashion last month and is best of the rest, while it would be foolish to ignore the other O’Brien entry Content, who will be sharper for his debut bronze at Leopardstown.
3.05pm – Jersey Stakes (Group 3) 7f
This has been another fair race for the Aidan O’Brien yard, so 112-rated The Antarctic is the call to freeze out his rivals. He’s won 4 of his 10 starts now but the interesting move here is the step up to 7f, which is expected to suit in the drying ground. Ryan Moore rides.
Of course, Frankie’s mount Covey will be a popular pick too after three nice wins and the last of those was a very taking success in Heritage Handicap company up at Haydock in the Silver Bowl.
Finally, trainer Charlie Appleby has won the last two runnings of this, so his Mysterious Night, who has been gelded since his last run and also sports the first-time tongue-tie.

3.40pm – Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes (Group 1) 6f
Highfield Princess was a bit unlucky in the King’s Stand Stakes on Tuesday and has to be considered back up to 6f, but the call is last year’s third Artorius for Australia.
He was only a 3 year-old using his native Southern Hemisphere ageing system last term when storming home to take bronze. You feel in a few more strides Artorious would’ve won.
With another year on his back, he’s expected to be stronger and wiser this time and, as long as he gets going a bit sooner, looks the one to be staying on the best.
Highfield Princess is an obvious danger, based on how she shaped when runner-up here earlier in the week. Two-time Wokingham Handicap winner Rohaan loves Ascot, meanwhile, and can get involved too.
4.20pm – Hardwicke Stakes (Group 2) 1m 4f
With two Hardwicke Stakes winners in the past including Gosden filly Fanny Logan three years ago, Frankie Dettori is taken to make it three on Free Wind for the yard. This prolific winner has mopped up 6 victories from her 8 career runs and on the turf has only tasted defeat once.
Free Wind takes on the boys here and faces her stiffest test against the likes of Brigadier Gerard hero Hukum and King George winner Pyledriver. She gets a handy 3lbs from those and heads here better than ever after winning the Middleton Stakes at York last month.
The form of that recent success was also given a big boost earlier in the week at the Royal meeting with the runner-up, Rogue Millennium, dropping back in trip to land the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes.

5.00pm – Wokingham Stakes (Heritage Handicap) 6f
Another tough renewal as always, but chances are taken on three horses. The consistent Apollo One has hit the podium in all of his last five starts and gets in here with a nice racing weight of just 8st 13lb.
Draw 15 will give Derby-winning jockey Richard Kingscote options and he’ll have learnt from his 8th (beaten 5 lengths) in the race last year.
Orazio will be popular too after an easy win at the track in May and could easily be better than a handicapper, while Spangled Mac is chanced each way as well.
He was 4th in the Buckingham Palace Stakes on Thursday, but the drop back to 6f looks a good move despite the quick turnaround and is often never far away in his races.
5.35pm – Golden Gates Stakes (Handicap) 1m 2f
A final Royal Ascot ride for Frankie Dettori comes on Knockbrex – a horse that win, lose or draw will enter the history books for that alone. Trained by the in-form Charlie Johnston yard, the horse has a big chance though and we know Frankie loves to write his own headlines.
We expect this horse to be going off a lot shorter too – especially if Frankie has a few earlier winners on the day. Knockbrex was last seen running 4th to Chesspiece at York in May over 1m4f, but the drop back to 1m2f is the key.
His sole career win came over this trip at Ponty when smashing a fair sort in Perfuse by 3 1/2 lengths. A repeat of that would make Knockbrex a big player. At bigger prices, Laafi and Obelix for trainers William Haggas and John Gosden can outrun their odds.
6.10pm – Queen Alexandra Stakes (Conditions) 2m 6f
The Willie Mullins-trained Stratum has won this race for the last two years and has been laid out for a third success. Owned by Brighton & Hove Albion chairman Tony Bloom, the horse should be spot on for this after a run at Leopardstown last month over 1m6f.
This longer trip will suit and William Buick, who rode him last year, keeps the ride as Mullins looks for a fifth win in the race. Andrew Balding has also done well here with two wins since 2013 and his Typewriter is interesting upped in trip.
The final one to have in your sights is Dawn Rising with Ryan Moore riding – he’s won this race twice since 2014. Trained by Joseph O’Brien and will carry the famous green and gold silks of JP McManus, that we are used to seeing at the Cheltenham Festival – not Royal Ascot.
