Roma have contacted Chelsea today about a potential transfer for Romelu Lukaku, with the Blues forward looking for a move away from Stamford Bridge before the end of the transfer window.

Lukaku has been causing problems all summer, not just for himself but for Chelsea as well who have been looking to offload their striker for some time now.

The Belgian spent last season on loan at Inter yet again, but the Italian’s chose not to take Chelsea up on the offer to buy a striker who largely disappointed in Serie A.

With just ten goals in 25 appearances last year, Lukaku’s performances were nothing to shout about which led to the 30-year-old being sent back to London this summer.

PSG and Juventus have both reportedly made approaches for Lukaku, but after being sent a harsh message from Juventus fans last month the striker decided to reject a deal with the side.

Roma are the latest side who are said to be interested in Lukaku, with Inter’s rivals keen to reunite the forward with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

The ‘Special One’ is keen on bringing Lukaku to Rome this summer, with a potential loan move proposed to Chelsea today which they would be interested in.

When asked earlier this week about any incoming players or potential exits before the end of the transfer window, Mourinho gave a simple response, taking a dig at the recent Saudi takeover in football:

“Let’s see if Saudi Arabia will arrive for someone and then anything can happen. It can improve the squad or even get worse. The risk is there. Let’s see, we only have four central defenders.

“We’ve been working with wingers to act as right-backs. If someone arrives it’s great, if he doesn’t arrive, we go on like this. I also talk to the players about motivating them.”

Roma kicked off their Serie A campaign with a 2-2 draw against Salernitana last weekend, with Mourinho and co looking to build on their draw this weekend against Verona.
