FIVE DOLLAR FINE (system – Ann Hamilton)
Since the beginning of 2020, simply backing all runner trained by Ann Hamilton would have shown a profit thanks to 35 winners from 136 bets (25.7% strike-rate) and a positive return to £23.92 to a £1 level stake at SP. That sample includes Carlisle chase figures of 21121 (3-5), pointing to a good run from FIVE DOLLAR FINE, who will appreciate the stiffer track after his modest fifth at Catterick last time.

SCHALKE (system – Rebecca Menzies, jumps handicappers, December to January)
Rebecca Menzies has a fine record with her jumps handicappers at this time of year, with those running in December/January landing 51 of their 271 starts (18.8%) for a profit of £132.51 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 34.79, A/E = 1.47). SCHALKE, one of the two qualifiers today (the other is Attention All in the 12.25 at Carlisle), hasn’t shown much in two runs this term but both would have been needed and he’ll strip fitter today.

POUR PAVORE (system – Gavin Cromwell, handicap chase debutants, Class 4 or lower)
Gavin Cromwell has a fine recent record with handicap chase debut in Class 4 or lower contests, scoring with 11 of the 36 qualifiers since the beginning of 2018 for a profit of £34.75. POUR PAVORE will need to brush up his jumping based on what we’ve seen in novice/beginners chase company but could still be worth chancing on his handicap chase debut.
