With the ground described as soft, good to soft in places, it could be slow enough for the stands’ side rail to come into play at Beverley this afternoon, favouring those drawn high. Since the draw was reversed in 2011, we could have bet every slow-ground (good to soft or softer going) Beverley runner drawn in stall 7 or higher, who was in the top three in the betting, and made a profit of £33.20 thanks to 53 winners from 215 bets.
OAHU (stall 14) looks set to appreciate the switch to slow turf and could help us on our way in the 2.17, while Karl Burke’s newcomer CARIAD ANGEL (stall 9) looks a likely type on paper in the 3.27. EYE UP IT’S MAGGIE (stall 11) will relish the return to slow ground for the first time since her best-of-the-prominent-racers third at York in May (4.02) and, though not currently in the first three in the market, I’m sweet on the chances of stall 14 runner JACKAMONDO in the finale (5.05). Buy DOUBLE DRAW at 76 with Spreadex.

SLIGO 3.10
BENEFIT RUN landed this 2m1f handicap chase in 2020 and looked set to win last year’s renewal before falling close home. He arrived late to finish a half-length second at Galway on his latest outing and similar tactics will hold him in good stead here as there is plenty of pace among his rivals. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.
