LINGFIELD 11.45
SILKS PASS (system – Alice Haynes, stable switchers, all-weather)
Alice Haynes has a four from 31 record on the all-weather at the first time of asking with horses she takes over from other yards and backing them bling would have returned a profit of £15.25 to the usual £1 stake. In all-weather handicaps only the score is three from 21 for a profit of £21.50. That’s obviously a small sample size, but plenty of the beaten horses placed and I’m going to chance a small each-way bet on SILKS PASS on his first start since leaving Darryll Holland.
LINGFIELD 2.00
MONTATHAM (system – Showcasing, 6f-1m on Polytrack, 3yo+, finished 4th or worse last time out)
Progeny of the sire Showcasing do well when racing over 6f-1m on Polytrack, landing 75 of their 605 starts (12.4% strike-rate) for a profit of £44.78 to a £1 level stake at SP. Had we only backed those aged three or older who finished fourth or worse on their latest outing, we’d have won 44 of our 347 bets and made a profit of £123.21. MONTATHAM should appreciate the return to synthetics after his Ascot Champions Day sixth of 20 behind Shelir.
NAAS 3.15
BROKEN ICE (system – Gavin Cromwell, first run in a handicap chase, Class D or lower)
Gavin Cromwell’s BROKEN ICE caught the eye when sixth in a handicap hurdle at Sligo last time, doing well to finish so close after racing towards the inside rail where the ground was badly churned up. He won over fences at Sligo on his penultimate start and looks very interesting now making his handicap chase debut. His trainer is eight from 28 with handicap chase debutants running in Class D (Class 4 in Britain) or lower company for a profit of £27.00.
WOLVERHAMPTON 7.30
HALIC (system – Owen Burrows, second run since gelded)
Owen Burrows does well with his runners who are having their second start since gelded, scoring with seven of the 35 qualifiers for a profit of ÂŁ22.35. Those who were beaten last time out were seven from 27 (+ÂŁ30.35). HALIC kept on well when third over the 9.4f trip here last time and looks set to appreciate the step up to 1m4f.
