LEDGER (system – Lucinda Russell, Flat handicaps)
Leading jumps trainer Lucinda Russell has made her mark in handicaps on the Flat in recent years, scoring with 17 of her 118 runners since the beginning of 2022 for a profit of £42.08 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 11.86, A/E = 1.43). LEDGER contributed with a 13-2 success over 1m in Class 6 company at Newcastle in late October before a narrow second over the same course and distance under a penalty just a week later. The four-year-old has finished unplaced in his three subsequent runs but the step up to 1m2f and drop back down to Class 6 level can spark a revival.

BUZZ BOX (system – stable switchers, ex-David Griffiths)
Since the beginning of 2014, ex-David Griffiths horses have a useful record at the first time of asking for their new handlers, with six winners from 35 proving successful for a profit of £49.38 to a £1 level stake at SP. Those running on the Flat after a break of more than eight weeks were six from 21 (+£63.38). BUZZ BOX showed ability at big prices in two runs on turf for Griffiths last summer and can make a winning start for Bryan Smart. The son of Adaay is bred to appreciate the switch to the all-weather.
