How Would Rory McIlroy Fare in Boxing Bouts Against LIV Opponents?
Rory McIlroy has been outspoken against LIV and our boxing traders were keen to price up how he would get on if the feuds came to blows in the boxing ring.
The LIV golfers have been under fire from all angles since selling out to the new Saudi Tour. But our boxing experts think they would have no problems defending themselves in the ring if they had to. Patrick Reed, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau would all be heavy favourites to win against Rory McIlroy.
However, our traders think Rory would have no problems dispatching Ryder Cup teammate Ian Poulter and would be an even stronger favourite against 53-year-old Phil Mickelson, who will probably be slowed down by the $200m from LIV golf in his pockets.
Mickelson Favourite to beat Tiger in the Ring
Mickelson, who so often came second place to Tiger on the golf course, is, however, tipped to beat him in the ring. Despite being older than Woods (47), Mickleson’s height and weight advantage combined with Tiger’s recent injury issues resulting from his 2021 single-vehicle crash in California, give him a 77% chance of success according to our boxing experts.
Another interesting battle would be battle could occur between Spaniards Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia. Rahm may be on course to end up as Spain’s most successful golfer ever, as he continues his fine form in the PGA tour.
His dominance doesn’t end on the golf course however, as he is tipped to be a heavy favourite against countryman, and LIV turncoat, Sergio Garcia. Priced up at 1/16, Rahm over Garcia is the second shortest price of the card, after Bryson’s 1/33 price against Rory which gives him an almost certain 97% chance of winning.
PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan Favoured to Put a Beatdown on Greg Norman
Finally, Jay Monahan (53) is favoured to beat Greg Norman (68) in the seniors fight on the card. Given Monahan is 15 years The Great White Shark’s junior, this is hardly a surprise. But there’s fight in the old shark yet, with our traders giving him a 33% chance of providing an upset.
