After Manchester City dismantled Arsenal in a 4-1 thumping on Wednesday night, OPTA have given the Gunners a slim 9% chance of lifting the Premier League title.

Some may think it’s rather harsh considering Mikel Arteta’s side are still top of the league by two points. However, their chances are still fairly slim according to OPTA.
Pep Guardiola’s Cityzens may be two points behind but they have two games in hand on Arsenal, and are unlikely to slip up anytime soon.
Kevin De Bruyne inspired them to a huge victory at the Etihad on Wednesday as the Belgian scored a brace and grabbed himself an assist. John Stoned also scored and Erling Haaland scored his 49th goal of the season too.

Despite the now-low chances of winning the league, it’s still been a good season for Arsenal and for most of the season have been the best team. At the halfway point they had acquired 50 points from 19 games and only six sides have done better at this stage of the season in English League history.
In the first 18 games of the season, Arsenal had 9 clean sheets and only conceded 14 goals. However, in the last 14 games they only have three clean sheets and have conceded 20 goals. It seems as if Arteta’s side have almost run out of steam now and are without a win in their last four games, so there’s no secret to why OPTA give Arsenal such a low chance of lifting the title.
