Nicky Henderson With Nine Runners On Cheltenham Day 3

Nicky Henderson has been the top trainer at the Cheltenham Festivals nine times in the past. He won his first ‘Top Trainer’ crown back in 1985 for the first time and has won it most recently in 2010 & 2012 respectively. The English racing trainer will be hoping to replicate this form with a stellar showing at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival.

The 72-year-old has 72 winners to his name in the Cheltenham Festival over the years, prior to this year’s Festival. This includes two Gold Cups, eight Champions Hurdles, seven Triumph Hurdles and five Supreme Novices’ Hurdles to name but a few.

On Day 3, Nicky Henderson has nine runners on Thursday 16th March. These rides include two of the big favourites of the day. He has Shishkin in the Ryanair Chase and Luccia in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle.

The 2011 & 2013 Gold Cup winner with Long Run and Bobs Worth respectively also has seven more runners on Day 3. He has some outside chances in the Turners Novices Chase, Pertemps Handicap Hurdle and Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle respectively.

The English trainer believes he has a few excellent chances to win some big races across the Cheltenham Festival, with the likes of Shishkin in the Ryanair Chase and Luccia in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle.

You wouldn’t put it past any of his nine runners somehow winning or making it into the each-way places at an enormous price, especially in the competitive, open races.

Henderson is priced at 8/1 to be the 2023 Cheltenham Festival Top Trainer.
