Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta believes his side need to win 10 out of 12 of their remaining league games this season to secure a first Premier League title in over 20 years.

Can Arsenal Win The Premier League?

Arsenal haven’t won a Premier League title in over 20 years but Mikel Arteta believes that his team can end their title drought this year if they keep their impressive form going.

The Gunners trail Liverpool at the top of the league table by five points, but they will have a chance to close that gap to just two points on Monday night when they play their game in hand against Sheffield United.

Manchester City are also still above the Gunners in the league, but just two points would separate the top three if Arsenal can win their game in hand on Monday night.

Mikel Arteta believes that his side can go all the way and win the Premier League this season with the Spaniard claiming that 10 wins in their remaining games could be enough to finish top.

“There are a lot of games and we are all going to have crazy schedules and this league might be different to last season. Anything under 90 points I think would be very difficult.”

Arsenal currently have 58 points, so ten more wins would take their total tally to 88 points – which has only been enough to win the league in one of the last eight Premier League seasons.

Will Europe Distract Arsenal?

Arsenal don’t just have the Premier League to focus on this season, with a Champions League last 16 second leg against Porto still to play next week.

The Gunners are 1-0 down after their first leg in Portugal and now they will have to come from behind at the Emirates next week if they are to advance to the quarter finals.

With a potentially busy European schedule to think about as well as the league towards the end of this year, Mikel Arteta’s ask of 10 wins in 12 league games could be a tough one.

Arteta’s ten wins out of 12 is an even bigger ask when you take a look at who his side still has to play, with some huge games against the league’s top teams still to play.

Arsenal still have to play Manchester City, Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea this season in what is going to be a testing final three months of the campaign.
