Manchester United may be forced to seek a cheaper alternative to Andre Onana this summer, with the goalkeeper’s £50m valuation too expensive for Erik Ten Hag’s side.

It has been reported that United have just £100m to work with in the transfer window this summer and it seems Erik Ten Hag is already struggling to secure some of his top targets with that budget.

United are in desperate need for a new number one before next season, as David De Gea is set to leave Old Trafford this summer on a free following heavy criticism in the past two years.

Ten Hag had supposedly selected Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana as the Spaniard’s replacement, but he has been valued at £50m by the Serie A giants who would prefer to keep their man.

At half of their budget this summer, United seem reluctant to make a move for Onana and may have to seek a cheaper alternative instead.

United have already spent a huge chunk of their budget this summer, after Mason Mount arrived from Chelsea with a fee of around £60m paid to the Blues for the 24-year-old.

There could be departures from United to raise funds this summer, however it already seems the side are struggling to offload players in a difficult window.

Jadon Sancho was offered a loan deal at his old club Borussia Dortmund today, but United rejected any deal for the star who cost them £72m in 2021.

With cheaper alternatives for Onana looking like the most probable option for United this summer, Ten Hag may decide to explore a deal for Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.

The German goalkeeper is valued at just £10m and could be the ideal cut-price replacement for De Gea this summer.
