Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is on the search for another forward in the January market after signing Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley.

According to Simon Jones of Mail Sport, United are still looking to add another forward during the January transfer window which is open for just another week.

A deal will only be viable if it is a loan deal with a small fee however and no permanent moves are in contention as the Glazer family prepare for a full or partial sale.

Who could Manchester United sign before the window closes?

After Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract termination at the end of November, the Red Devils were left short in attacking depth and turned to Burnley striker Wout Weghorst who was out in Turkey at Besiktas on loan.

Anthony Martial continues to dip in-and-out of the lineup with injury and can’t seem to find consistent fitness, leaving bench options limited to Anthony Elanga, Facundo Pellistri and Alejandro Garnacho.

After spending £225 million in the summer on Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Antony, the Old Trafford side’s January budget appears to be very limited.

United couldn’t compete with Chelsea’s offer for Joao Felix or Liverpool’s offer for Cody Gakpo despite holding a strong interest in both players, so quality signings shouldn’t be expected this month.

According to Premier League betting sites, United are third-favourites to win the tite this season behind odds-on favourite Arsenal and Manchester City who follow shortly behind.

Ten Hag’s side take on Nottingham Forest in the first leg of tonight’s Carabao Cup semi-final at the City Ground, looking to put one foot in the Wembley final as United search for a first trophy in almost six years.
