Manchester United have confirmed that previously-injured duo Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay have returned to Red Devils training ahead of Saturday’s crucial tie against Bournemouth.

It’s a vital time in the season for Manchester United as they look to confirm their Champions League qualification for next season.

With just three games to go, it’s crucial that the Red Devils avoid dropping any more points.

United are currently fourth in the Premier League table, level on points with third place Newcastle.

Losses to Brighton and West Ham in recent weeks has allowed Liverpool back into the race, as they now sit just one point behind Erik ten Hag’s side.

Injuries have certainly contributed to this, with Lisandro Martinez and Marcel Sabitzer out for the rest of the campaign, as well as Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay missing Wolves’ visit at the weekend.

But now, the Red Devils have been dealt a boost ahead of their key run-in.

In a statement, the club has confirmed that both Rashford and McTominay have returned to training ahead of their clash against Bournemouth on Saturday.

The club confirmed the latest injury news in a statement, released on Wednesday morning.

“There is good news regarding Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay, who have both returned to training.” the statement read.

“Our leading scorer, a strong contender for the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award after the voting was launched this week, took part in the session after missing the win over Wolves due to injury.

“Midfielder McTominay continues to push to reappear from his own lay-off. The Scotland international has not played since scoring in the 2-0 triumph over Everton on 8 April.

“Raphael Varane, who was replaced by Harry Maguire late on last weekend as a precaution, according to the manager when interviewed afterwards, was present among the group.”

It was also confirmed that two youngsters took part in the training session with the seniors.

“Youngsters Omari Forson and Daniel Gore also took part in the work-out. Some 32 PDP (Professional Development Phase) players have trained with the first team this season, amassing 571 sessions between them.

“The Reds have lost the services of midfielder Marcel Sabitzer for the rest of the run-in. The Austria international, signed on loan from Bayern Munich in January, has a meniscal problem that will be keep him out of action.

“Centre-back Lisandro Martinez also misses the remainder of the campaign, while Donny van de Beek is another long-term absentee.”
