Manchester City and Portugal midfielder Bernardo Silva has revealed the two clubs he could NEVER play for, along with his plans for life after Manchester City.

Bernardo Silva’s Career

Having begun his career at Benfica, Silva made his debut for his boyhood team at the age of 19 and won the domestic treble with the club, despite only making 3 appearances totalling 31 minutes.

Forced out of Benfica, Silva went on to join AS Monaco, initially on a one-year loan, before making the deal permanent the following season for €15.75 million.

Having played in Leonardo Jardim’s 2016-17 title-winning AS Monaco side, which included the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Silva signed for Manchester City in 2017 for £43m.

Since then the Portuguese midfielder has gone on to win multiple trophies for the club, including an inaugural UEFA Champions League title in 2023, not to mention placing 9th in the 2023 Ballon d’Or rankings.

Which Two Clubs Did Bernardo Silva Say He Could Never Play For?

Throughout his time at Manchester City, Silva has been heavily linked with a move away from the club, with Barcelona the most likely destination.

However, in an interview with CNN Portugal, Silva revealed which club he would like to join when his time at Manchester City comes to an end, saying: “I want to return to Benfica. If the club wants me at the time, obviously things will happen.”

Continuing, Silva also mentioned the two clubs that he could never play for due to his loyalties to his boyhood club, Benfica.

“I was incapable of playing for FC Porto or Sporting. It’s not going to happen.”

Bernardo Silva’s Manchester City side currently sit at the top of the Premier League table, but where do you think the Portuguese midfielder will end up once he decides to leave the club?
