Ahead of the 2023 Community Shield clash at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon, we’re taking a look, and comparing, the squad values of both finalists – Man City and Arsenal.

The 2023/24 season is set to kick off in style as treble-winners Manchester City take on Premier League runners-up Arsenal in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.

Despite Arsenal spending the majority of the season at the top of the table, it was Man City who came out on top in both the league, and in their three meetings throughout the campaign. Pep Guardiola got the better of his former assistant Mikel Arteta twice in the league, as well as once in the FA Cup.

Having been backed in the transfer market thus far though, Arteta will be looking to go one better this year by pipping the Citizens to the English top flight title, denying them of a fourth consecutive Premier League triumph.

City have signed just one player in the form of Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea, although they are rumoured to be signing Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig too. Notable outgoings from the Etihad include Ilkay Gundogan, Riyad Mahrez, James Trafford and Benjamin Mendy.

Arsenal have already spent over a reported £200million this summer, having finally signed Declan Rice, alongside Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber.

In terms of departures, club captain Granit Xhaka has left for Bayer Leverkusen, whilst Pablo Mari has permanently joined Monza, and Ainsley Maitland-Niles has been released at the end of his contract.

In preparation for Sunday afternoon’s clash in the English capital, we’re taking a look at the squad values of both Man City and Arsenal, per Transfermarkt.
