Irish raider Shartash for trainer Johnny Murtagh is respected too, while Tigrais has won his last two and being a filly gets a handy 4lbs off the rest.

WED @ 9/2 with 888Sport has caught the eye in winning his last two starts and has now been successful in 3 of her 4 starts. Trained by Maurizio Guarnieri, this improving 2 year-old filly has won her last two by 4 1/2 and 2 lengths, with the last in the G2 Prix Du Calvados at Deauville. Of the rest, Never Ending Story represents the Aidan O’Brien yard that won this race in 2014 and 2015, while trainer Andre Fabre is always feared at this meeting and runs recent Saint-Cloud scorer Ardent.

VADENI (e/w) @ 8/1 with 888Sport can bounce back to winning ways here after just getting tapped for toe at a crucial stage last time in the Irish Champions Stakes. He was 1 3/4 lengths behind Luxembourg that day, but didn’t get the best of runs and looks the sort to improve now upped to 1m4f for the first time. Drawn well in 2 helps and he’ll have Christophe Soumillion riding, who has won the Arc twice in the past for owner HH Aga Khan IV. Epsom Derby third and Irish Derby winner Westover can go well too, while the classy mare Alpinista has won 5 Group One races in-a-row and commands plenty of respect too.

NASHWA @ 11/4 with 888Sport is a filly going places and connections have taken their time with her this season. She won at Chantilly in June (G1, Prix de Diane Longines) and backed that up with a tasty win in the Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood on July. She’s been kept fresh for this since and with Hollie Doyle having a top record on the horse (4-from-6) it can be more ‘girl power’ here. Aidan O’Brien’s Above The Curve won at Longchamp (Prix Saint-Alary) in May and can go well too, while another UK runner My Astra, for William Haggas, looks a filly with more in the tank.

FLOTUS (e/w) @ 10/1 with 888Sport gets the nod here after running the classy Highfield Princess to 3 3/4 lengths last time at the Curragh in the G1 Dubai Flying Five Stakes. Softer ground is fine for this Crisford-trained filly and William Buick riding is the icing on the cake. Last year’s winner A Case Of You can go well too, while Ryan Moore and Aidan O’Brien team-up with New York City, who was fourth in the already mentioned Flying Five Stakes.

KINROSS @ 13/8 with 888Sport looks to hold the aces here with Frankie Dettori riding for Ralph Beckett. A winner of his last two, including the G2 Park Stakes last time at Doncaster and before that took the City Of Walls Stakes at York. Fang has improved to win his last two and the last came at Longchamp on the G3 Prix Du Pin, while Sandrine actually beat Kinross in the Lennox Stakes at Goodwood earlier this season and looks sure to play a part too.
