Sir Jackie Stewart has been a regular at horse racing  events up and down the country over the years, and the legendary F1 champions has given his verdict for this year’s Grand National.

The 43-podium, three-time world champion is siding with Lucinda Russell-trained Corach Rambler as the outright winner for 2023, while he fancies Ain’t That A Shame, The Big Dog and Carefully Selected to all finish in the top four.

Speaking to the Racing Post, he said: “Corach Rambler would be my choice. If he’s trained in Scotland then he will probably win. Scotland is a small country, but it produces some good results.

“Ain’t That A Shame can finish second. Rachael Blackmore winning the race in 2021 was great. Putting a pin in would be my way of picking the Grand National winner.”

The 9-year-old, who enters the contest off a 10st 5lbs mark,  is undoubtedly one of the heavyweight contenders this afternoon, and has considerable form having claimed the Ultima Handicap Chase crown at Cheltenham last month. 11 of the 21 winners at the Grand National Festival last year had a run at Cheltenham, which bodes well for Stewart’s winner selection.
