Kylian Mbappe’s Strenuous Relationship With PSG Reaches New Breaking Point

Five months after signing a monumental contract keeping him at PSG until 2025, Kylian Mbappe is said to be unhappy with his current situation and is eager for a swift solution.

It came as a surprise to the entire football community when the 23-year-old decided to extend his stay in Paris, with Real Madrid widely expected to make the Frenchman their latest ‘Galactico’ last summer.

Fast forward to now, Mbappe and PSG are sitting pretty at the Ligue 1 summit, unbeaten after 10 games while scoring 28 along the way, eight of which have been scored by the want-away forward.

Numerous reports of a fractious dressing room with Mbappe at the centre have emerged with a particular focus on a supposed quarrel between himself and another of PSG’s prized possessions, Neymar.

The arrival of new manager Christophe Galtier may be a contributing factor to his unhappiness having been guaranteed certain assurances as to his positioning on the pitch under former boss Mauricio Pochettino.

He publicly criticised the former Nice boss in a recent Instagram post that he has now taken down, claiming it was a ‘heat of the moment’ decision.

He is said to prefer operating alongside a second striker as opposed to the trident Galtier has employed since arriving at the Parc de Princes, even though champions are in pole position to retain their crown at this moment in time.

While the Parisians have zero intention of letting Mbappe leave in January, Mbappe’s situation is likely to cause obstreperous relationships between the manager and the squad, something Galtier has been eager to control since taking over at the helm.

It seems even the reported bumper £1m-a-week contract and the power to influence club decisions is not enough to keep Mbappe content, and his dream move to Los Blancos may come sooner than expected.

However, the relationship between the two clubs became increasingly testy following Madrid’s very public pursuit of Mbappe, with club presidents Florentino Perez and Nasser Al-Khelaifi both openly criticising one and other. It remains to be seen whether Madrid have both the patience and the economic capacity to make another move, potentially as soon as January.
