Borussia Dortmund are welcoming Jadon Sancho back to the club – and still hold hope of keeping him for next season too.
A deal has finally been agreed for Sancho to move on loan for the rest of this season to the Bundesliga side after the player set them as his No 1 destination for a move.
Sancho To Dortmund
Manchester United, who are still paying a portion of his wages, are only agreeing to a short-term stint for now as they are cautious over what happens in the future.
His performances across this year will impact on his transfer value but there is also the potential of Erik ten Hag not being manager of United by next season – in which case the possibilities for Sancho to work him back into the team would be higher.
We revealed last week how Dortmund had been keen on an 18-month loan but United dismissed the idea for now, as well as the idea of a buy clause.
Yet sources are suggesting to SportsLens that there is hope at the German club that Sancho could yet sign another loan spell with them for next season.
Dortmund Close To Maatsen Deal
It is a situation to look out for at the end of the season, by which time Dortmund will hope Sancho has helped save their season.
They are currently fifth in the Bundesliga but believe Sancho’s ability on the ball will be a huge attribute from wide positions.
And they are also adding Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen to the mix for an extra boost.
Bayer Leverkusen are currently top of the league and unbeaten, and Dortmund are 15 points behind as the league resumes this weekend, following the winter break.
