ITV Racing Tips For Sandown and Haydock: 1-2-3 Best Bets For Saturday 8th July 2023
See below our quickfire ITV racing tips from Sandown and Haydock today – with seven races spread across the two tracks.
1:50 Sandown: Coral Charge (Group 3) (Registered As The Sprint Stakes) Cl1 (3yo+) 5f ITV
SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 ITV RACING TIPS: Ryan Moore catches the eye booked to ride the Karl Burke runner Marshman here, who is into calmer waters this time after running 7th (of 17) in the G1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot last month. He was only beaten 5 lengths that day but now down into a G3 looks the one to beat with draw 3 a plus too. Last year’s winner Raasel is respected too, while the Clive Cox runner Get Ahead has been running well this season and was a close second last time in a better race in France.
- MARSHMAN
- RAASEL
- GET AHEAD
2:05 Haydock: bet365 Handicap Cl2 (3yo) 1m6f ITV
SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 ITV RACING TIPS: This is a race the William Haggas yard like to target – winning the prize twice since 2020. They go again with Lordship, who has won his last two in good fashion and with just 6 career runs should have more to come. He’s up 8lbs for the last win at Yarmouth but looked to have a bit up his sleeve at the finish to suggest there is plenty left in the tank. Banderas for trainer Michael Bell and easy Ripon scorer Rogue Sea also command respect.
- LORDSHIP
- BANDERAS
- ROGUE SEA

2:25 Sandown: Coral Challenge (Handicap) Cl2 (3yo+) 1m ITV
SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 ITV HORSE RACING TIPS: Perotto was sent off as the favourite for the Royal Hunt Cup last time at Ascot but could only manage 10th (of 30). The handicapper has dropped him 2lbs for that which helps but he’s also sporting the first-time hood this time and is also a proven course winner here at Sandown. Ouzo is another course winner that can go well, with the Jane Chapple-Hyam runner Intellogent (yes, the correct spelling) was slowly away in the Hunt Cup last time to put a line through that run – he’s better than that.
- PEROTTO
- INTELLOGENT
- OUZO
2:40 Haydock: bet365 Lancashire Oaks (Group 2) (Fillies & Mares) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m4f ITV
SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 ITV HORSE RACING TIPS: The Gosden/Strawbridge combo took this race last year with Free Wind and are expected to follow-up again – this time with Mimikyu. This 4 year-old filly blew away the cobwebs when a close second at York at the end of May and this race would have been a target since. She’s back over 1m4f but stays further and is also a course winner here at Haydock when winning a Novice Stakes last June. Of the rest, Aristia is the top-rated in the field and is a proven G1 winner in France to respect, with Pinnacle Stakes winner Sea Silk Road another that should nt be far away.
- MIMIKYU
- ARISTIA
- SEA SILK ROAD

3:00 Sandown: Coral Distaff (Listed Race) (Fillies) Cl1 (3yo) 1m ITV
SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 ITV HORSE RACING TIPS: Horses from stalls 3,4,5 and 6 have done well in this race recently so a chance is taken on the Burke runner Back Sea Daa from the 6 berth. This 3 year-old has only raced four times but got off the mark last time with an easy win at Newbury and if building on that in this better race looks interesting. Godolphin’s Bridestones and recent German 1000 Guineas runner-up Stenton Glider are shortlisted too.
- BACK SEA DAA
- BRIDESTONES
- STENTON GLIDER
3:15 Haydock: bet365 Old Newton Cup Handicap Cl2 (4yo+) 1m4f ITV
SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 ITV HORSE RACING TIPS: Maksud was well-backed for the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot last time out but despite not winning was only 5 1/2 lengths back at the line. Dropped 2lbs by the handicapper for that run helps and with it only being his second run of the year can also be expected to have improved. Hat-trick-seeking Cumulonimbus won again last time here at Haydock despite stumbling at the start and can get involved again off a 5lb higher mark, with Toshizou at a bigger price also interesting after staying on well at Epsom over 1m2f last time – the longer trip should suit.
- MAKSUD (e/w)
- CUMULONIMBUS
- TOSHIZOU
3:40 Sandown: Coral-Eclipse (Group 1) (British Champions Series) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m2f ITV
SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 ITV RACING TIPS: A two-horse battle here between Paddington and Emily Upjohn, with the best UK bookmakers finding it hard to split the pair. Cases can be made for both with Emily Upjohn having won the Coronation Cup well last time out at Epsom and Paddington super impressive in winning the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot last month. However, the Aidan O’Brien runner Paddington just edges it for us having looked the sort to improve again now upped in trip. He’s now won his last 5 races and the way he stayed on over a mile last time to beat the 2000 Guineas winner Chaldean by 3 3/4 was very eye-catching. Being a 3 year-old he also gets a handy 7lbs from Emily Upjohn, but is also rated 3lbs higher than the Gosden mare anyway. He can give O’Brien his seventh Coral-Eclipse win.
- PADDINGTON
- EMILY UPJOHN
- DUBAI HONOUR
