BANKER: 12:55 Chepstow: ECEPARTI 4/5 with BetMGM
This Venetia Williams runner bolted up at this track last time out – winning by 29 lengths – and despite the bounce factor coming into play with the win off a 186-day break, looks worth sticking with. Jockey Ned Fox rides again and is able to claim 3lbs here (claimed 5lbs last time), but the slightly shorter trip here will help in heavy conditions and often when these Venetia Williams chasers hit form, they are worth sticking with.
LAY OF THE DAY: 3:35 Warwick: HORIZON DORE 6/4 with BetMGM
Trainer Adam West is fresh from a Breeders’ Cup trip with his star sprinter Live In The Dream, but is back down to earth here with a runner in a Class 5 Hurdle race at Warwick. Yes, on form his Horizon Dore is very much the one to beat in what looks a very average contest with little depth. He won well last time at Ffos Las and also three runs back at Fontwell. However, in between those successes flopped badly as the Evs favourite, so is not always 100% reliable. Add in that he’s up another 7lbs here from that last win and will face slightly softer ground here. At the prices looks worth opposing.
STAT HORSE: 3:50 Chepstow: PORTENTOSO (e/w) 6/1 with BetMGM
No great shakes on last few runs but Portentoso has been freshened up with 240-days off and is back off a 3lb lower mark here in what doesn’t look a great race. Connections have also re-booked claiming jockey Elizabeth Gale, who rode last time, to take off a handy 7lbs and gets in here with just 10-2 in weight to carry. However, the big standout stat is the strike-rate of the Chris Honour camp with their hurdlers at Chepstow, having fired in 4 winners from their last 8 (50%) and have an overall 31% return on all their runners at the Welsh venue. Looks worth chancing at a fair e/w price.
