BANKER: 5:20 Hereford, TOP CLOUD 8/15
Top Cloud won by 3 lengths last week at Stratford, on his first run for the Robbie Llewellyn yard, and looks worth sticking with on that evidence. That was also his first run back from a wind op, which clearly make a difference, and after winning from 4lbs out of the weights that day escapes a penalty so now runs off his correct rating. Jockey Liam Harrison rides again and the opposition look average, to say the least.
EACH-WAY: 3:13 Huntingdon: MIDNIGHT GLANCE 18/1
Midnight Glance has a fair bit to prove at the moment after two below-par runs over hurdles in the summer. However, the Alan King yard have freshened him up with 72 days off and the switch to chasing looks interesting. The stable also boasts an impressive 47% strike-rate with their runners over fences at Huntingdon (7-from-15) and their number one stable jockey Tom Cannon comes back in for the ride. He looks worth having a small e/w play on in an open-looking affair.
LAY OF THE DAY: 8:00 Newcastle: BENEFICIARY 2/1
The horse we are taking on today is Beneficiary, who runs in the penultimate race at Newcastle tonight. Yes, this is a poor-looking race and this Liam Bailey runner probably brings some of the best form to the table being dropped 2lbs and running off a career-low mark. However, the poor level of this contest also points to a wide-open race. This 4 year-old has only won one of his 14 career starts and that success also came over 5f – he’s back up to 6f tonight. His form over this trip reads 0-from-6, while the fact he hung right in the closing stages in his most recent run (5th of 10) at Musselburgh would also be a concern.
