The Hewick Gold Cup odds 2024 have significantly changed after his astonishing win in the King George Chase on Boxing Day. The John “Shark” Hanlon-trained hero hit over 500/1 in play but managed to get over the line first in dramatic fashion at Kempton.

The King George 2023 winner has caused a huge change in the Cheltenham Gold Cup market seeing his odds shift from around 60/1 to as short as 14/1 with some of the best UK betting sites.
Hewick went on to land his first Grade 1 success in the hands of the jockey-of-the-moment Gavin Sheehan coming from last to first, storming to the biggest win of his career.
It’s worth noting that Hewick cost just €850 as a two-year-old and along his incredible journey has gone on to win over €700,000. He also became just the second Irish King George winner since 2006.
The Nicky Henderson-trained Shishkin looked to have the race in the bag, but he slipped after clearing the second last fence and unseated Nico de Boinville, leaving Allaho and Bravemansgame clear.
However, it was not to be for the two high-class chasers as Hewick came from last to first to land the huge prize.
If Hewick was to head to Cheltenham and win the Gold Cup he would become just the ninth horse to complete the King George and Gold Cup double in the same season. He would join Cottage Rake, Limber Hill, Arkle, Desert Orchid, Best Mate, Kicking King, Kauto Star, Long Run as those to achieve such feat.
