The pocket Italian Frankie Dettori will be riding this season for the last time after he announced last year this will be his final campaign in the saddle but is back at HQ this week.
Dettori returned yesterday with a bang after steering the John Gosden-trained Covey to an easy 4 -length win (watch below) and he’s back for more this afternoon with three more rides – two for John Gosden and one for the Charlie Johnston yard.

Frankie Dettori has won the Nell Gwyn Stakes an incredible 7 times and with this being his last season will be wanting to add another. He’s got a top chance of doing just that with this exciting Gosden filly, who went into many a notebook after winning on debut at Kempton last October. She’s a well-bred Kingman filly that is also as short as 7/1 for the 1000 Guineas and with last year’s winner of this Group 3 going onto land that Newmarket Classic then Frankie could be in for a good time of things at HQ in the next few months.

This is a race Frankie and Gosden love to win. The pair have teamed-up to land the first prize four times since 2016. This year, they look to face a stern test from an unraced Godolphin horse called Silver Lady, but Frankie mount has at least had the benefit of a run. That outing came with a close third here at Newmarket last October, so the track experience will help. She also ran on well that day over 6f, so this step up to 7f looks a great move. She’s around 33/1 for the 1000 Guineas with the best horse racing betting sites.
