See below the El Fabiolo horse profile for the Willie Mullins-trained 7 year-old, who has taken the 2m chasing division by storm. Winning all five starts (to date) over fences and is the red-hot favourite for the Champion Chase at the 2024 Cheltenham Festival.
El Fabiolo Remains Unbeaten Over Fences
The Willie Mullins-trained EL FABIOLO was a decent hurdler – winning twice from four starts, but he’s making into a much better chaser. The 7 year-old remains unbeaten since being switched to the bigger obstacles – winning all five races (and counting).
El Fabiolo broke his duck over fences at the first time of asking, when winning the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase at Fairyhouse on 21st December 2022 – winning by 19-lengths (watch below).
Since then, El Fabiolo backed that win up with a facile success in the Irish Arkle at the Dublin Racing Festival in 2023 and then added the Arkle Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March 2023 (watch below).
Beating his old rival Jonbon by 5 1/2 lengths at the line.
Then El Fabiolo rounded off his 2022/23 campaign with victory in the Barberstown Castle Novice Chase at the Punchestown Festival in April, before being put away for a summer break.
His comeback run for the new season (2023/24) came in the Bar One Racing Hilly Way Chase at Cork (watch below), where he returned the 1/5 favourite and comfortably beat Fil Dor by 4 3/4 lengths.

After that debut run, El Fabiolo was next seen running third over hurdles at Auteuil, again with Transatlantic (2nd) finishing ahead of him.
He was then sold and moved to the Willie Mullins yard in November 2021, before making a winning start for the Closutton handler in a Maiden Hurdle at Tramore on New Year’s Day 2022.
