Crystal Palace vs Brighton (1-1) Report: Olise Racks Up Another Assist But Eagles Forced To Settle For A Point

Both sides came into tonight’s Premier League clash desperate for a win. Brighton are now three games without a domestic victory, whilst Palace haven’t won in over a month – seven straight outings with four defeats and three draws.

Jordan Ayew opened the scoring for the hosts on the stroke of half-time, nodding home Michael Olise’s perfectly-weighted delivery. Olise now has two goals and one assist in seven games since returning from an injury.

Shortly after the break, the visitors looked to have a solid penalty claim when Jack Hinshelwood tumbled over inside the area – before replays showed the 18-year-old tripping over his own feet on his fourth league start for the club.

Roberto De Zerbi rolled the dice at the interval and decided to bring on Danny Welbeck up front, who repaid his manager’s faith in the 82nd minute with an incredible looping header to beat the in-form Dean Henderson between the sticks.

The result leaves Brighton in eighth with 27 points after 18 games, six points adrift Tottenham Hotspur in fifth. Palace are firmly in the bottom half in 15th but are nine points clear of the relegation zone.

What Next For Crystal Palace & Brighton?

Up next for the Eagles is a trip across London to Stamford Bridge where they will face Chelsea at 7:30pm next Wednesday the 27th. The Blues have won 12 straight games against Palace in all competitions dating back to 2018.

As for Brighton, the Seagulls turn their attention to a clash with Totttenham Hotspur next Thursday the 28th as they continue their bid to qualify for Europe for a second consecutive year.
