Horse racing fans will see the return of the 2023 Grand National winner Corach Rambler this weekend as his trainer Lucinda Russell has entered her popular 9 year-old at Kelso on Saturday.

Corach Rambler Kelso Return On Saturday

Corach Rambler silksWe last saw Corach Rambler winning the 2023 Grand National at Aintree on Saturday 15th April. However, after a summer break the Lucinda Russell-trained 9 year-old will make his seasonal reappearance this Saturday (28th Oct) at Kelso.

Russell has entered her Aintree hero at Kelso in the 2:50pm Edinburgh Gin Chase Handicap), but also had an option to run at Cheltenham on Saturday in the 2:25pm Epic Jumps Season At William Hill Handicap Chase.

However, with Corach Rambler being raised 13lbs for his National win, connections have opted for the nearer Kelso venue due to their race being a limited handicap chase and would not have to give as much weight away as he would have done if racing at Cheltenham.

Saturday’s run at Kelso will be his first ever outing at the track – you can back Corach Rambler at 11/4 to win at Kelso on Saturday with Paddy Power.

After this weekend, all being well, Corach Rambler is then expected to be upped in class, with a possible tilt at the Grade 1 Betfair Chase at Haydock on November 25th.

Corach Rambler is currently 10/1 with BetMGM for the Betfair Chase.

Lucinda Russell told the Racing Post.

“It’s great to have him back, ” said Russell. “It’ll be interesting to see how he comes back, he’s been away and had a racecourse gallop at Ayr so he should be pretty straight for it. It’s just a case of getting him going and then we can make a plan for the rest of the season but we’ve got in our minds to go to Haydock so it’d be nice to get a good run out of him.

“It was better to go to Kelso than Cheltenham because it was a limited handicap rather than an ordinary handicap and we’ve gone up so much in the handicap I wanted to avoid giving a lot of weight away. That’s another reason to look at the Betfair Chase.”
