Bravemansgame Entered For Charlie Hall Chase
Saturday’s feature race – the Grade One Charlie Hall Chase – has been given a shot in the arm with the news that the Paul Nicholls-trained BRAVEMANSGAME has been entered for Saturday’s 3m Grade 2 race.
The 7 year-old has been put in @ 6/4 with 10bet for the Wetherby race, which will be the first time he’s been on the track since running below-par in the Mildmay Novices’ Chase at the Aintree Grand National Meeting in April.
Bravemansgame was sent off the favourite in the betting that day but clearly wasn’t running to his true form – trailing in 30 lengths behind the eventual winner, Ahoy Senor, who could also be heading for Wetherby’s Charlie Hall Chase this weekend.
Prior to that Aintree flop, Bravemansgame, had won four of his five starts over fences, including a 7 1/2 lengths drubbing of the already mentioned Ahoy Senor in the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day (watch below).
Despite needing to bounce back he’s still only a 7 year-old and remains a horse with a lot of potential. He’ll also be returning from a 204-day break, but won first time out last season.
The Paul Nicholls Yard Have Won The Charlie Hall Chase Four Times
Bravemansgame will also be looking to give the 12-time champion trainer Paul Nicholls his fifth Charlie Hall Chase, but is still a bit off the Nigel Twiston-Davies camp with 6 success in the race.
Nicholls has mopped-up four wins in the Wetherby feature over the years – twice with See More Business in 1999 and 2000, plus more recently in 2012 with Silviniaco Conti and Cyrname in 2020.
Bravemansgame Also Has King George VI Chase On His Radar
Bravemansgame is also a popular pick for the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day (26th Dec). The Festive feature is a race the Christmas punters trying and get their turkeys paid for in and should the Nicholls horse win Saturday’s Charlie Hall Chase, then we can expect his King George price of 4/1 with 10bet to shorten – Nicholls has won the King George a remarkable 12 times.
At the moment only the Willie Mullins-trained Allaho @ 2/1 with 10bet is ahead of him in the King George VI Chase betting.
