Brian Harman fends off the likes of Rory McIlroy, Jason Day, Jon Rahm and Tommy Fleetwood to win The 151st Open Championship at Hoylake. The American golfer finished on -13 par, winning the Claret Jug by six shots. This is Harman’s first every victory in a major championship.

Brian Harman Wins 151st Open Championship

After an incredible display of golf over the course of 72 holes and four days at Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Brian Harman wins The 151st Open Championship.

The American golfer led from Friday right up until the end on Sunday, lifting aloft the coveted Claret Jug on the 18th green at Hoylake.

Harman put on a masterful performance over the course of the four days at The Open, adding his name to that elusive list of major champions.

After 72 holes of compelling golf, the 36-year-old finished on -13 par – six shots better than anyone else in the field. In the end, this was a rampant win for the American in what was a flawless display of link golf.

The left-handed golfer didn’t have it all his own way of course, and had to withstand charges from the likes of reigning Masters champion Jon Rahm, four-time major winner Rory McIlroy, former world number one and PGA Championship winner Jason Day and hometown hero Tommy Fleetwood.

Now that The Open has concluded, this means we have four different major winners this year. Jon Rahm won The Masters at Augusta back in April, before Brooks Koepka won his fifth major at the PGA Championship in May.

Wyndham Clark of course won the US Open last month, before fellow American Brian Harman ran riot this week at Royal Liverpool, claiming his first ever major championship.

Prior to the tournament, Harman was priced as a huge outsider with the best golf betting sites. Not many people gave the lefty a chance, but he showed real grit and resilience to fend off the rest of the field to win The 151st Open Championship.

Quite a remarkable feat by one of golf’s good guys.
