Two of Europe’s heavyweights lock-horns once more after a somewhat underwhelming first leg in Paris, but as the Champions League has proven in recent years, the return fixture usually throws up the most surprises. With a whole host of the continent’s most valuable players on show this evening, we have decided to do something a little bit different and build a Bayern Munich vs PSG combined XI, dictated by player value.
Bayern Munich vs PSG Combined XI By Player Value
GK: Gianluigi Donnarumma (€50m)
The Italian has long been hailed as the natural successor to Gianluigi Buffon, but he is yet to fully live up to his potential at PSG. He concedes an average of 1.06 goals per 90 minutes, and posses a clean sheet ratio of just 19%.
However, at just 24, he has plenty of time to reach full form and that is reflected in his valuation.
RB: Joao Cancelo (€70m)
In one of the most bizarre twists of the season, Joao Cancelo headed for the Manchester City exit in January after falling out of favour with Pep Guardiola, despite being arguably their most consistent performer last year.
Nevertheless, the mercurial wing-back has found himself in another top European club after Bayern Munich pounced at the opportunity of a loan signing, and although he has an identical valuation to PSG’s Achraf Hakimi, Cancelo has proven himself just that little bit more which is why he sneaks into this combined XI.
CB: Matthijis de Ligt (€70m) & Dayot Upamecano (€60m)
An all-Bayern centre-back pairing features in the most valuable XI, and both de Ligt and Upamecano were present in their narrow 1-0 win in the first-leg.
The pair are both still under the age of 25 but have already garnered experience on the biggest stages of them all, and hold considerable potential as Bayern’s long-term partnership.
LB: Alphonso Davies (€70m)
PSG’ promising 20-year-old Nuno Mendes just misses out at left-back, with Canada’s road-runner Alphonso Davies occupying the final defensive spot to complete a clean sweep of Bayern Munich players in the back-four.
CM: Leon Goretzka (€65m), Joshua Kimmich (€80m) & Jamal Musiala (€100m)
Bayern Munich’s trifecta of midfielders means there is no room for the likes of PSG’s Marco Verratti and Fabian Ruiz, but Goretzka, Kimmich and Musiala combine for a total of €245m according to their latest valuations.

Musiala has emerged as the brightest talent in the Bundesliga since making the switch from England as a 17-year-old, and his €100m valuation ranks him firmly among the top 10 most expensive players in world football.
Wingers: Leroy Sane (€70m) & Neymar (€75m)
Although Neymar is ruled out for the remainder of the season, the Brazilian makes it into this combined XI with his current worth still a massive €75m.
This is a far cry from his €222m fee that PSG paid to pry him away from Barcelona, and rumours of his exit have been fuelled by supposed interest from Chelsea.
On the opposite side, Leroy Sane has been somewhat underwhelming since returning to his native Germany in 2020, but 12 goals and six assists this season has indicated a resurgence in form that has kept his transfer value afloat, despite nearing the age of 28.
Striker: Kylian Mbappe (€180m)
There isn’t much else to add to Kylian Mbappe’s profile other than he is by far and away the world’s most expensive player, and anyone hoping to add him to their squad will likely be forced to pay well over €150m.
Total Combined Value: €890m
