The Declan Rice transfer sage continues, with UK betting sites pricing Arsenal and Chelsea as favourites to sign the West Ham star.

Rice has established himself as on of the best midfielders in the league since making his debut in 2019, adopting the captaincy aged 23. His performances have seen him become an important member of the England squad, raising interest from elite Premier League sides.

One of the sides that are heavily interested in the England star, is Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. The Gunners are having their best season in almost two decades, as they sit top of the table. Champions League qualification means that the north London club will be looking for reinforcements in the summer.

The Gunners will face stiff competition from their London rivals and Rice’s boyhood club, Chelsea. Graham Potter has had a difficult start in the capital, with his side taking up tenth place in the Premier League.

The Blues have boasted an impressive transfer spend since Todd Boehly took control, spending over £500m in a 6-month period. Signing Rice would cost the club around £100m and Chelsea may be the only side willing to spend that amount.

Both sides have shown an interest in other midfield options, battling it out for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo in January. Arsenal looked set to sign the Ecuador international, but the clubs could not agree a fee and the 20-year-old remained at the Seagulls.

Whoever lands the Rice will have beaten the majority of clubs in world football, as the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City are also reportedly interested. The West Ham ace has also turned down multiple contract extensions at the Hammers.
